Harper found her bright traffic-cone-orange-hello-kitty looking shoes she left the orphanage/foster home in, and decided she wanted to wear them. It really completed her ensemble she had going on that day. Her "Made in China" t-shirt, a diaper, and those shoes. Good thing we didn't have anywhere to go..... or a door to door salesman knocking on our door the that matter!
The t-shirt cracks me up. She obviously doesn't find any humor in it with the look on her face she's got going on. haha!
THE shoes.
She started to pull the whiskers out of the cat. In no time, they were all pulled out.
Keeping it classy at the Henry house.... one cheek at a time.
We met our friends at the sandpit/splash pad for a play date. This was Harper's first time at it, and I think the first time in sand! When we first got there, I set her down in the sand - not even realizing it might be her first time to feel sand - and she quickly reached for me to pick her up again. She then pointed to her toes. That's when I realized she had never felt sand before! Just as quick as she wanted me to pick her up, she wanted me to put her down again. She loved it. I'm still amazed at how well she adapts to everything she experiences for the first time.

After watching them play in the sand for a while, we then moved over to the splash pad. Again, another first for Harper. I could not wait to see what she would think and I just KNEW she'd stick her face over a fountain and not realize water would soon be coming out. It was hilarious! She didn't seem to mind though because she kept going back for more!
Scott and Brannen were up in Oklahoma over the weekend for a Boy Scout rock climbing camp, so it was me, Griff and Harper. We also had a friend spend the night and hang out with us on Saturday. I had to make a run to the store and Griff thought Harper should ride in the shopping cart that looks like a race car. Another first for her. I had gotten what I needed to pick up and we started to head to the check out when all of a sudden I heard Harper start crying. I looked around to the front of the 'car' and saw her laying on the floor of the grocery store! She had jumped out of the car while it was moving. Good grief! She's one tough cookie though. I picked her up, made sure she was ok, gave her a kiss and she was back wanting inside the car. On the way out of the store, Griff and Conner were sweet and made sure they each held her hand.
With both boys playing baseball, we are at the baseball fields a lot during the week. Harper does really well, but I do have my stash of 'emergency' suckers just in case. This game however, she found my stash early on in the game. Dang!
I'm also having to get used to packing a bag of things to keep a two year old content. It's been a while since I've had to do that! Along with the emergency suckers, I had water, books, baby doll, etc.
She would yell "Bubba!" to Brannen every so often. He finally came over to say 'hi' to her
Done with one sucker and looking for another. She wasn't happy when I told her "no".
After the game, she ran over to Brannen
Then, we went for ice cream (Scott and Griffin were at Griffin's game)
Even though Harper has just been with us for two months, she understands English really well, and is starting to say a few words. She also loves "Itsy Bitsy Spider". She can't say it, but when she wants you to sing it, she'll put her two fingers together. She'll also do all the hand motions as your singing.
Anyway, we got her to say a few words while we recorded her. Not sure why you can't see the full frame of the video. Oh well, you get the idea......

She was so cute at the sand park and for not ever feeling sand before, she adjusted quickly!! Wish I had taken a pic of Molly the first time I brought her there....she cried and sat in my lap for the WHOLE 2 hours!!
